Wanzhe万喆 published his first paper ‘Research Progress and Future Perspectives on Soil Carbon Sources and Stability in Mangrove Forests ‘ (红树林土壤碳来源与稳定性研究进展与展望, in Chinese) in Earth and Environment 《地球与环境 》. It is a nice paper reviewing the mangrove forest carbon sources and stability. We highly recommend our research students to write review paper which could greatly integrate the knowledge and position the state-of-the-art understandings of their research area. Congratulations!
On May 7-10, 李静li Jing, 徐步青Xu Buqing and 张干Zhang Gan attended the 第四届气体同位素技术与地球科学应用学术会议4th National Symposium on Gas Isotope Geochemistry in 西安Xi’an. Gan delivered a plenary speech on compound-specific radiocarbon; Buqing gave an oral presentation on diacids in Lhasa, and Li Jing talked about radiocarbon mapping by plants in Shenzhen, respectively. We were invited by professor 牛振川Niu Zhenchuan, to visit the CAS Institute of Earth Environment at Xi’an on May 10, giving, jointly, a ‘big’ presentation with stories and academic elements on the development and applications of radiocarbon technology in our group. On May 9th night, we went jointly with 丁翔Ding Xiang to 大唐不夜城Nightless City of Tang Dynasty and enjoyed the views and traditional art performances, where we surprisingly met 王晓Wang Xiao who was a member of our group. Gan was happy to join with two Swordswomen in their cosplay performance for fun. It is a trip full of nice food, familiar people and enjoyable academics.
AMS facility in Xi’an
On April 30, 英健Yingjian (MSc)、雨薇Yuwei (PhD)、楚鑫Chuxin (PhD) did their degree viva. The assessment committee consisted of Professors Zou Sichun邹世春 of SYSU, Chen Da陈达 of JNU, Zhao Qin赵青 of Guangdong Institute of Ecological Environment and Soil, Li Jun李军 and 罗春玲Luo Chunling of GIG. The three gave nice presentations with confidence, and the defense went on smoothly. We had a party after the viva cerebrating their success. Big congratulations !
