Yuwei’s paper ‘Highly Volatile POPs in Urban Air across Asia and Africa: Dominance of Volatile Methylsiloxanes‘ has been published in ES&T. This is the first paper of our group in the year of 2026. Congratulations!

Figure 2 Comparison of the concentrations (ng/m3) of various pollutants in the gas phase at the same sampling site in Guangzhou. Pollutants include 201 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), 75 polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs), 27 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), 8 polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), 6 novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs), 11 organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs), 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs), and 52 HV-POPs. IQR is the interquartile range.

Farewell Professor Ahsan Habib

On December 23 morning, we gathered to farewell professor Ahsan Habib, who successfully completed his 9-month CAS PIFI fellowship. We took a lot of pictures, that many of us had developed friendship with Habib. I made a PPT/PDF album to record his commitment with our group and staying with us, since August 03, 2017. We will miss Habib, the always questioning professor and our good friend; and for sure he will visit us in the future.

Three invited talks

On December 20, Professors Guo Shunjun郭顺军 of Institute of Geography, CAS, and Gao Meng高蒙 of Hong Kong Baptist, Wang shunyao王舜瑶 of Shanghai University were invited by Shizhen to give academic talks in SKLAET. Professor Zheng Mei of Pekiong University also visited and joined the event. The speakers gave nice and impressive talks, which attracted many colleagues from the SKLAET.
