The 4th international conference on environ pollu and health in Tianjin

On May 18-20, a group of us (Jin Biao, Haoyu, Jibing, Liu Xin, Shizhen, Zhang Gan) joined the 4th International Conference on Environmental Pollution and Health which was held in Tianjing, hosted by Nankai University ( 南开大学）。Haoyu, Jin Biao both presented their posters, and Jibin gave a nice oral presentation. I also visited Tianjing University for a quick view of the newly-established Institute of Surface Earth System led by Professor Liu Congqiang (刘丛强）. On the conference we met many good friends, including particularly former group members Zhao Zhen (赵祯）, Promita, Li Qilu (  李琦路）and Tang Jianhui (唐建辉）. I was very happy to see a student of Li Qilu, Cheng Xianghui (程相会) giving an oral presentation in my session.

POPs Forum 2018 in Chengdu

On May 16-18, Shizhen, Liu Xin and Gan Zhang attended the 2018 POPs Forum in Chengdu. Liu Xin gave a presentation on the meeting on her artificial forest and POPs story. Hairong and her student Zhang Sheng (张珅) also attended and had an extensive discussion with Gan on aerosol study in Hubei. We took the opportunity to visit Kuanzhaixiangzi (宽窄巷子）for nice food and fun at night. We were also happy to see Mr Yang Kong (杨孔）who is a student of Li Qilu of Henan Normal University and presented a talk on a student session, chaired by Gan.

This is one of the best organized forum in the POP circuit.

Group trip to Daya Bay & Sampling at Huizhou

From November 27 to 29th, some members of our group take a trip to Daya Bay in Shenzhen to find a temporary relief from routine research work. Later on ,we collected some water and sediment samples at Huizhou.

First Day

Our first stop was Dapeng Ancient City(大鹏古城），which was built from Ming Dynasty(yr1394). It is also currently the only national key cultural relics protection units(国家级重点文物保护单位）in Shenzhen.

Then we went to Yang Mei Keng(杨梅坑），where we had a romantic bike trip.

Second Day

On 28th we waked up in our sea-view room and had a great time at the sandbeach at Xi Chong(西涌）.

Third Day

Zhong Guangcai, Zhang Bolong, Xu Buqing , Yi xin and Sun Yue stayed in Huizhou for sampling work while others returned Guangzhou on the afternoon of 28th.

On 29th, we left from the shore at 7:30 a.m. and returned at 4:00 p.m. . About 140L water and 4 tubes of sediment were collected during the voyage.
