Yi Xin and colleagues visit the group

On September 12-13, Yi Xin （怡欣）came back with her colleagues in China Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS) visited our group.   We had a meeting on environmental radiocarbon and 14C-AMS facility. Sanyuan (三元）gave a talk introducing the technical settlement of 14C-AMS, and Gan complementarily gave a brief talk on the applications of 14C. A new MICADAS 14C facility is to be setup in CAMS, and the two bodies are to collaborate in the future, to which Yi Xin  will be the strong tie.   It is really nice to see Yi Xin back in the group.

Celebration of Teachers’ Day

On the eve of Teacher’s Day, the Air Omic’s Squad, along with this year’s new students, took the initiative to celebrate early with Professors Zhang Gan and Zhao Shizhen. The group gathered at Xiangzhiyuan, to enjoy a delightful meal together.
On the actual day, the entire research group have prepared unique “impact factor” bouquets, a playful reference to the IF (impact factor) coconut water, and Xiaomi massagers. The three engineers in the group were presented with fruit baskets, adding to the festive atmosphere. Additionally,  BoLong and Yi Xin also sent beautiful bouquets to the two professors, with purple flowers especially complementing Professor Zhao.
Teacher’s Day is not just a day to celebrate the contributions of our educators; it is also a time to reflect on the guidance and support they provide. This year’s celebrations were a testament to the wonderful relationships within our research group and the joy of learning and growing together.

Jianchu’s 6 day travel in Sri Lanka

Jianchu recently spent an exciting week in Sri Lanka, teaming up with researchers at the University of Peradeniya! From August 12-17, he worked with Professor Parakrama Karunaratne’s team to push forward the Maritime Silk Road Air Pollution Monitoring Initiative. During the visit, Jianchu engaged in detailed discussions with Prof. Karunaratne on air sampling plan for the project. Working collaboratively with members of Prof. Karunaratne’s team, Jianchu successfully completed the assembly and preliminary testing runs of air samplers scheduled for deployment.

While conducting sampling work, Jianchu also had the opportunity to experience Sri Lankan culture by visiting the University of Peradeniya campus. At Prof. Karunaratne’s suggestion, he further explored famous sites—the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (where a tooth of Lord Buddha is enshrined), and the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
