On Jan 29th, Prof Ashan Habib gave a speech on the topic of “industrial waste management in Bangladesh: challenges and strategies. The lecture mainly focused on the use of nano TIO₂/ZnO  as photocatalysts and adsorbents in the treatment of dyeing wastewater and the POPs pollution in Bangladesh. The presentation shed light on the alarming environmental consequences caused by inadequate waste management practices in Bangladesh. Professor Habib emphasized the urgent need to address this issue to safeguard public health and preserve the natural resources of the country. Overall, Prof. Habib’s lecture provided valuable insights and measurements on tackling the challenges faced by the country.  Last but not least, Prof. Habib was given the PIFI (President’s International Fellowship Initiative) and he may stay in GIG for 9 months.
