The group has two dedicated room for molecular microbiology lab with a total space area of ca 60 m2. The lab is used for preparation, extraction, and isolation of DNA/RNA/proteins for molecular biology studies. Most of the work done in the lab, currently, is of DNA-based Stable isotope probe (DNA-SIP), as well as conventional culturing and separation of microbials.
Illumina Eco Real-Time PCR System. It is also called quantitative PCR (qPCR). It is used to quantitatively (Quantitative real-time PCR)or semi-quantitatively monitor the amplification of a targeted DNA molecule during the PCR.
Thermo Scientific NanoDrop 2000 Micro-volume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. It is used to measure the concentration and purity of the DNA, RNA or protein samples.
Bia Rad T100™ Thermal Cycler(also known as a thermocycler, PCR machine or DNA amplifier). It is most commonly used to amplify segments of DNA via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
Horizontal electrophoresis apparatus. It is used to separate and analyze macromolecules(DNA, RNA, proteins) and their fragments based on ther size and charge.
Gel image analysis system. It is used to analyze gel electrophoresis image of RNA, DNA, Dan Baining glue, TLC plate image to get the gel with peak value, molecular weight or base pairs, area, height, position, or the total amount of sample volume.
Thermo Scientific Heraeus Pico17 Micro-volume Centrifuge.It is used to prepare NAs for downstream analysis.
Beckman Coulter Optima L-100XP Ultracentrifuge .
Telstar Bio II Advance Class II Biological Safety Cabinet（also called biosafety cabinet or microbiological safety cabinet). It is used to maximize protection for the operater , sample and environment since makeup air is also HEPA-filtered.
