Kick-offs of Henning and Ali

On September 27, a set of group members joined to welcome Henning and Ali to join the group. Both of them gave self introduction, and interpreted the projects they will be working on in GIG.  Nice talks and good project designs!

Ali from Pakistan, will be working on Hg in tree rings with the help from Zhineng.

Henning (left) from DTU will be working on back diffusion of cDCE from impermeable source to aquifer, with Jin Biao.

Eva worked in our group as a visiting PhD student, from 2018.9.9-12.26. She is from the Dept. of Pollutants and Human health in the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) of Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). She joined Lele on the extraction and column cleanup of ATMSYC air samples added up to more than a thousand, tremendous work! She visited many places including Yangshuo and Beijing. She, Bet and Clara also went with Lele to Baoji and Xi’an to attend a wedding ceremony as bridesmaids. Of course, they appeared as headline on the local newspaper on the next day. It is really nice that she chose our group for her stage. We wish her all the best!

Örjan Gustafsson and family visited Guangzhou

On October 28 to 31, Örjan Gustafsson visited the group. This is his second visit in the year of 2018. His family came along with him. Orjan had intensive discussions with Gan, Guangcai, Xiaofei, Yi Xin and Buqing. The visit push our collaboration much forward and made it more clearly. The advance of BPCA-based dual-carbon methodology and aerosol di-acids dual-carbon isotope methodology were highly appraised by Orjan. He also discussed with Junwen on the writing of the Malaysian Bachok Station radiocarbon paper. We went to Baiyun Mountain with his family for a nice excursion. And the kids had great first impression of Guangzhou, from the splendid Pearl River water front, to delicate vegetarian food in the ShiFangYuan restaurant. Anna, the little lovely beauty received a special gift from Gan and Liu Xin, which is a family portrait of her family in the PR waterfront. Wonderful memory.
