Three Graduates Celebrate at Degree Conferment Ceremony

On the morning of June 9, three graduates, Tian Lele(田乐乐), Ma Jianchu(马建初) and Li Yifan(李一凡), from the Air-ormics Group attended their degree conferment ceremony, officially marking the completion of their academic journey. Director Wang Qiang (王强) presided over the ceremony, performing the tassel-turning ritual and presenting the diplomas, symbolizing their formal graduation.

Following the ceremony, Professor  Gan and Professor Shi Zhen, along with all members of the Air-ormics Group, joined the three graduates for commemorative photos at several significant locations: the Sampling Building lobby, the bulletin board of the published papers by the group, and in front of the “Old Comrade” instruments—a cherished tradition within the research group. The event not only celebrated the graduates’ achievements but also reinforced the strong bonds and enduring traditions of the group.

Traditional Celebration Trip to Yuyinshanfang

On the afternoon of Jun 3, following a cherished group tradition, most members of the research team visited Yuyin Shanfang (余荫山房) to celebrate the successful completion of doctor and master degrees by Tian Lele(田乐乐), Ma Jianchu(马建初) and Li Yifan(李一凡). This marked the fourth time the group has traveled to Yuyin Shanfang to immerse themselves in its traditional ambiance of family values and scholarly heritage.

Though the faces change each year and new graduates take the spotlight in photos, the smiles and heartfelt emotions remain the same. Against the elegant backdrop of the villa’s grand architecture, the group took commemorative photos with each graduate. Later, they explored the exquisite garden landscapes, creating lasting memories.

The team extends its warmest wishes to the graduates for a bright and prosperous future. May they continue to shine in their next endeavors! At the same time, current students are encouraged to draw inspiration from this academic achievement and strive for new heights in their own research journeys!

Seminar of ANSO MORATOXA Projet for indoor dust collection strategy

On October 17th 2024, the online seminar of “Monitoring and Risk Assessment of Toxic Chemicals in the Air (MORATOXA)” program supported by ANSO was successfully held online. About eight experts and students attended this seminar, including Dr. Zhao Shizhen from GIGCAS, four students from GIGCAS (William, Kun, Yuwei and Weiru) Dr. Simion Bartilol from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and two students from the University of Nairobi, to discuss on indoor dust collection strategies.  This seminar was chaired by Dr. Shizhen Zhao.

After Dr. Shizhen and Dr. Simion introducing the participants, they discussed about the difficulties in indoor dust sampling. In order to better support the sampling, Weiru shared the review of collected samples, the basic requirements of household dust sampling and three strategies of dust collection. After discussion, we clarified the follow-up sampling details, and determined the supplies we could provide. This online meeting will lead to further progress in the project.
