On June 2-4, Shizhen, Jianchu, Jun and Gan attended the 5th Microplastic symposium held in Wuhan. Wu Chengxi (吴辰熙)who was a CUG-Wuhan PhD student worked with Professor Qi Shihua host the symposium. Both Jianchu and Gan gave talks, which came out to attract a lot of audience. In particular, Jianchu was surrounded by many girl students after his talk. We had time to meet many friends from the CUG-Wuhan for the dinner, after which, we, guided by Hairong, walked along the Yangtze River in the evening neon lights. Shizhen was exited to meet so many colleagues working in the area of microplastics. A nice meeting!
Yi Xin’s dual-carbon isotope methodology paper accepted for publication
Yi Xin’s paper entitled ‘Dual-Carbon Isotope Analysis of Benzene Polycarboxylic Acids for Tracking Black Carbon across Different Environments‘ has been accepted for publication in Applied Geochemistry, and has been selected as a ‘Editor’s Choice’ contribution ( each year AG only selects 10 editor’s choice papers) owing to the high quality of the work, which is also the milestone paper for our compound-specific radiocarbon analysis (CSRA) of polyaromatic organic matter. Congratulations to Yi Xin and Guangcai!
POPs Forum 2024 in Guiyang
On May 17-19,Professor Gan Zhang and Professor Shizhen Zhao, along with three members of the Air-Omics group: Lele, Yuwei and Weiru attended the POPs Forum 2024 held in Guiyang. During the conference, Professors Tian Lin , Yue Xu and Yan Wang were also gethered with us. Shizhen delivered an excellent presentation on tire ware particles. Moreover, Lele, Yuwei, and Weiru each delivered oral presentations on their respective research topics, showcasing their innovative work and promote our research group. It was a moment of pride for us when Weiru was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Student Presentation Award. Congratulations!
Following the successful conclusion of the forum, we explored the city, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of Guiyang’s culture and cuisine. The highlight of this adventure was the city’s signature potato delicacies.
The trip not only served as an opportunity for academic engagement but also as a chance to experience the local way of life in Guiyang. The memories and experiences gained from this event will undoubtedly enrich the our academic journey and inspire further endeavors in our research pursuits.
