The Finale-wet Season Sampling of GEOBBC Program was Carried out Successfully

On Oct 16-18th, a group of us (Gan, Shizhen, Xiaofei, Buqing, Jiao, Linbo, Zhicheng, Weiru, Xiao) went to the Dongjiang River for the final intensive sampling champaign in wet season. Zhicheng was elected to be the “commander”, who has been newly titled as “胡一钻” by Prof.Gan for his subtle skills to sample a perfect sediment column at one try. Prof.Gan and Miss Shizhen were special guests, who instructed the sampling operation patiently and brought us good luck for sampling. After a three-day hard work, samples including 4 sediment columns, 29 surface water samples, 3 sets of water samples of different depths, 1 bulk depostion samples and several passive air samples were collected. The whole intensive sampling champaign in two seasons has completed successfully and all the samples will be treated rationally and carefully. We are looking forward to the follow-up accomplishments!

Good luck from Miss Shizhen. ❤

The Pleasant Get-together of AIR-OMICS +

On Sep 26th, the group of Air-Omics + Squad (including Gan, Shizhen, Nigar, William,  Linbo, Shaojun, Lele, Jianchu, Yuwei, Weiru and Yifan) and one fellow (Jiao) representing Organic Geochemistry Squad gathered together to enjoy a spicy but tasty dinner for approaching Moon Cake Festival. The cuisines were so hot and appetizing that we ate up every dish in less than 10 min. We also shared some traditional white lotus with salted egg yolk mooncakes provided by Shizhen. Everyone gave a toast to the whole group and shared their heart-to-heart thoughts about study and life. We had such a wonderful night!

Six-day Travel in Bangladesh

From September 18 to 24, He Kun visited the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh at the invitation of Professor Ahsan Habib, as part of the Research Project of the Alliance of International Scientific Organization (ANSO) – Monitoring and Risk Assessment of Air Toxicants (MORATOXA). The purpose of this visit was to repair the medium flow sampler placed at the University of Dhaka, transfer and bring back 55 sets of atmospheric samples, 42 sets of dust and 24 sets of human-haired samples collected, clean the sampling container and refill with clean sampling material, discuss existing research progress and further sampling plans, and promote substantive exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. During the visit, Kun had the opportunity to experience local traditions and cuisine. Kun also met with Professor Ahsan Habib’s research group and other colleagues, gaining valuable insights and knowledge.
