Atmsyc visit to lanzhou

On May 26-29, Gan and Shizhen visited our STMSYC team in Lanzhou. They had a detailed discussion with profs Ma Jianmin, Gao Hong and Wang Tao, on the next-stage task from ATMSYC in the context of risk-assessment modeling, source-tag technique and a new model to be applied in the PRD demo, and the national air toxic assessment report etc. Gan also attended two other meetings, one on environmental science & technology education, and one for the Gansu Provincial Key Lab on Pollution Warning and Control, of which he is one of the academic panel members. They are also able to see the 14C lab of Lanzhou University, consisting of a MICADAS AMS and a dedicated graphite target-making line, operated by Prof. Wang Zongli (王宗礼). On the 28th afternoon, they took a short sightseeing trip to Xinglongshan (兴隆山）, which is quite greenery and with rich history. We’ve been really enjoying the fruitful collaboration with LZU, which could be tracked back to as early as the year of 2010.

POPs Forum 2019 in Guangzhou

On May 16-18, Gan, Biao, Wenwen, Huanfang, Lele, Liu Yi and Shizhen attended the POPs Forum 2019 hold in Guangzhou. Biao gave two presentations, one is on the isotope fractionation of dibromoethane degradation and another is about the PMOCs. Wenwen also presented her recent work on the nitrosamine pollution in Pearl River. This is also the first time for Lele and Liu Yi to attend an academic conference.

SETAC A/P FOCUS MEETING

On April 24-16, several group members including Gan, Guangcai, Jun and Jin Biao attended the SETAC A/P Focus Meeting on environmental pollution and health along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (MSR), of which the key purpose was to bring scientists from both developed countries and developing countries to discuss about and co-design research programme. We met many familiar names/faces including Tom Harner, Kevin Jones, Pauzi, Rainer Lohmann, Joan Grimalt and Lidia Morawsk etc. The meeting ended with great success, achieved all the expected goals.

In particular, the group of 4-beauties, Yazhou, Jiayi, Shizhen and Liu Xin played key roles in the organization and processing of the meeting.

And Bolong, Liu Yi, Ji Yun and Ruiling devoted greatly at the airports to welcome/guide the arrivals, very hard-working!
