Radiocarbon Conference 2015

Liu Junwen et al attended the International Radiocarbon Conference 2015 at Dakar, Senegal

(2015.11.16-20)

The bianular conference is the top event for all people working on/with radiocarbon and AMS facilities in the world. Junwen, Sanyuan, Ding Ping and Wang Ning joined together the conference, and made their presentations.

l1 Dr Liu gave a talk.

l2Dr Xu Xiaomei (mid) , the ‘queen’ for radiocarbon technology, looks after the younger generation.

l3Dr Wang Ning of GIG, a waisted lady, works on historical radiocarbon records using corals.

l4Dr Ding Ping who currently manages most of the graphiote target systhesis work in GIG. He also works on radiocarbon of methane in the environment.

Postdoctorate

Drs Zhong Guangcai and Chen Duohong completed their postdoctorate study in GIG

December 1st,2015

Drs Zhong Guangcai （钟广财） and Chen Duohong （陈多宏） reported to the assessment panel on their postdoctorate work  in GIG, on December 1st. By this they officially completed their PDRA. Congratulations! Assessment panel members were Professors Zou Shichun (Chairman, Sun Yat-sen University), Yu Zhiqiang, Peng Xianzhi, Bi Xinhui and Luo Chunling.

Guangcai’s new posiiton in GIG will be Research Associate. While Dr Chen Duohong has just been promoted to Senior Engeneerer (professor-eqilvalent band，教授级高工) in Guangdong Environmental Monitoring Centre (GDEMC).

Fourth PolyU-GIG Joint Workshop

Jiang Longfei awarded Best Oral Presentation on the 4th Annual PolyU-GIG Joint Workshop

(Shenzhen, 20151219)

On December 19, the 4th Annual PolyU-GIG Joint Workshop was held in Shenzen. There were 21 oral presentations dilivered by postdoctors and PhD students on the annual event. Jiang Longfei （江龙飞）was awarded Best Oral Presentation by the committee, among a total of 4 of its kind. Congratulations.

j1Senior Professor Li Xiangzhong (right 1，李湘中) awarded the certificate to the awardee (3 students and 1 postdoctor). Dr Henry BH Lee (left 1, 李伯亨) of PolyU was one of the organizers.

j2Jiang Longfei gave a talk on Application of SIP in screening PAH degraders in forest soil. Good science and excellent presentation with confidence.

j3Senior Professor Chan Lo-yan (right 1，陈鲁言) gave certificate to the awardees (8 students) of Best Poster Presentation.
