Qingdao Academic Visit

From April 28 to 30, Gan and Shizhen visited Shandong University at the invitation of Caiqing Yan (闫才青). During the visit, Gan delivered a lecture on Dual Carbon Isotope Studies of Atmospheric Carbonaceous Components, while Shizhen gave a talk on Emerging Pollutants in the Atmosphere.

We also made a brief cultural visit to Mount Laoshang, including the historic Shangqing Palace, thoughtfully arranged by Zheng Zong(宗政), who was once a postdoctoral research fellow in our group. During our stay, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with colleagues and friends such as Runzeng Liu (刘润增), Lin Du (杜林), Likun Xue (薛丽坤), and others, and also enjoyed meeting some new friends.

Afterward, we visited Ocean University of China, where we had fruitful discussions with Limin Hu (胡利民) and Rui Bao (包锐). As part of the visit, Limin kindly arranged a tour of the university’s History Museum and scientific research platforms. Due to limited time, we weren’t able to visit the Yushan campus—but we hope to make it there next time.

It was a truly memorable and productive trip, made even more special by the warm hospitality of our friends in Shandong.

Farewell to Habib & Xuyen

On April 25, we held a warm farewell dinner for Prof. Habib and Xuyen, who had been with us for about a month. Prof. Habib will return in June to complete his PIFI project, and we look forward to welcoming him back.

Xuyen stayed for three weeks to complete her analysis of OPEs in dust samples, working under the supervision of Prof. Minh. During her stay, Linbo provided guidance on the laboratory work, and Xiaosong also kindly supported her daily needs. She is about to receive her PhD degree after returning to Vietnam, and we’re proud to have supported part of her journey.

We truly cherished the time they spent with us—their presence brought energy, collaboration, and friendship. We wish them every success in the next chapter of their lives and hope our paths cross again soon.
