Great Sucess of Fourth Year Fish Plan-A Growing Team

During Jan 17-18, the Air-Omics Squad (“爱米小分队”) successfully completed the 2024 Fish Plan (“咸鱼”计划), marking another key achievement in the squad’s ongoing research efforts. This year’s project brought together both experienced team members and fresh faces, including vistors Ruijie, Zixin, Tianshuo as well as  freshman participants Xiaosong, Zibing and Siqi. The team was divided into two groups, each wearing SpongeBob and Patrick aprons, respectively. Both teams were well-equipped with gloves, masks, and knives, and demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and precision throughout the project. The Air Omics Squad showcased

excellent teamwork and execution during this fish plan. We look forward to even greater achievements in the future as we continue to tackle new challenges with enthusiasm and dedication!

Seminar of ANSO MORATOXA Projet for indoor dust collection strategy

On October 17th 2024, the online seminar of “Monitoring and Risk Assessment of Toxic Chemicals in the Air (MORATOXA)” program supported by ANSO was successfully held online. About eight experts and students attended this seminar, including Dr. Zhao Shizhen from GIGCAS, four students from GIGCAS (William, Kun, Yuwei and Weiru) Dr. Simion Bartilol from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and two students from the University of Nairobi, to discuss on indoor dust collection strategies.  This seminar was chaired by Dr. Shizhen Zhao.

After Dr. Shizhen and Dr. Simion introducing the participants, they discussed about the difficulties in indoor dust sampling. In order to better support the sampling, Weiru shared the review of collected samples, the basic requirements of household dust sampling and three strategies of dust collection. After discussion, we clarified the follow-up sampling details, and determined the supplies we could provide. This online meeting will lead to further progress in the project.

The SETAC A/P 14th Biennial Meeting at Tianjin

On September 21-24, seven group members (Gan, Shizhen, Shaojun, Zhang Zheng’en, Zhang Ziyang, William and Habib) attended the SETAC A/P 14th Biennial Meeting at Tianjin, each gave talks.

We  met former group members Wang Yan (王琰) and Zhang Yanlin (张炎麟) on the meeting. Invited by Gan, Dr Roland Weber from Germany also attended, who will then visit our group at Guangzhou from Sept 26th-29th. I also met Drs Tu Binh Mihn of Vietnam National University, Luca Nizzetto of Norwegian Institute of Water (NIVA), who are my good friends and collaborators. I talked with professor Xiangdong Li (李向东) of Hong Kong Polytechnic at night, discussing lots of important things.

This was a nice meeting, and the weather in Tianjin was very comfortable.
