We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Gan Zhang for being recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Elsevier in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering in 2024. This remarkable achievement marks the 11th consecutive year that Professor Zhang has retained his position in this prestigious global ranking. This recognition is a testament to his sustained academic influence and outstanding contributions to scientific research.
On March 1st, Gan and Shizhen attended the Sixth Environmental Analytical Chemistry Symposium in Wuxi. During their visit, they also had the opportunity to meet with Prof. Zhenyu Wang at the School of Environment & Ecology, Jiangnan University. They toured the advanced laboratory and engaged with Prof. Wang’s research group. The visit was further enriched by spending time in Wuxi with Prof. Zou and Mr. Zhang. Our sincere thanks to Prof. Wang’s group for their warm hospitality.
On December 11, several GeoBBCcore members including Zhang Yanlin of NUIST, Wang Junjian of SUSTECH, Song Jianzhong, Zhao Shizhen, Lu Yazhou and Zhang Gan of GIG attended the Mid-term assessment event (基金委地学重大项目中期评估） which, organized by NSFC, was held in XiJiao Hotel （西郊宾馆) at Beijing. Gan reported the overall progress and achievement of the GeoBBC program (15 minutes), followed by 4 project reports delivered by Song Jianzhong, Zhang Yanlin, Wang Junjian and Zhang Gan, respectively, each 5 minutes. Yazhou prepared and brought all financial things, and communicated with the financial audit team in the venue. Yangzhi helped in preparing and collecting all relevant stuffs for the Mid-term assessment, and all team members had a very busy fortnight, preparing for the assessment event. There were six NSFC ultra programmes being assessed by 15 experts assigned by NSFC. The GeoBBC program was evaluated to be ‘Super Excellent’ (特优), which denotes a milestone and great achievements of our GeoBBC.
