New projects sanctioned by Guangdong

Liu Xin was awarded research project by Guangdong Natural Scientific Foundation (GD-NSF). This is the only 1 project of its kind （博士科研启动项目，不含纵向协同项目）in our institute! With a budget of 100K Yuan, it is on source fingerprints of organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) and their health risk assessments in indoor environments.

We were also granted by Guangdong Department of Science and Technology a joint Guangdong-UK UrbanInnovation project, with a budget of 1 million Yuan (and ca. 500K British Pound from the UK side) , on developing and application of land-use regression model (LUR) at intra-city scale for environmental health study in Guangzhou. This project is a very NATURAL extension/complement of the group’s ATMSYC and Shizhen’s new China postdoctor foundation project on PAH/LUR!

Shizhen awarded special grant from China Postdoctor Science Foundation

Zhao Shizhen (时真) is awarded a special grant (150K Yuan) from China Postdoctor Science Foundation (CPSF，中国博士后基金第 11批特别资助项目). This is of the top grade research money from the CPSF, to encourage early-career research of excellence.  Shizhen’s idea of this is to establish a land-use regression (LUR) model of PAHs at intra-city scale in Guangzhou to support further urban environment & health study. Congratulations!

SAMPLING TRIP TO WAN-LV-HU LAKE IN 2018

From May 31st to June 1st, our group members took a trip to Wan-Lv-Hu Lake in Heyuan for water sampling and celebrating the International Children’s day by the way. A total of 120 L surface water and 40 L deep water (50 m) were collected. This designed sampling campaign mainly focuses on the dissolves black carbon in water which plays an important role in black carbon and carbon cycle. We look forward to productive outputs from this sampling campaign.
