SETAC A/P FOCUS MEETING

On April 24-16, several group members including Gan, Guangcai, Jun and Jin Biao attended the SETAC A/P Focus Meeting on environmental pollution and health along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (MSR), of which the key purpose was to bring scientists from both developed countries and developing countries to discuss about and co-design research programme. We met many familiar names/faces including Tom Harner, Kevin Jones, Pauzi, Rainer Lohmann, Joan Grimalt and Lidia Morawsk etc. The meeting ended with great success, achieved all the expected goals.

In particular, the group of 4-beauties, Yazhou, Jiayi, Shizhen and Liu Xin played key roles in the organization and processing of the meeting.

And Bolong, Liu Yi, Ji Yun and Ruiling devoted greatly at the airports to welcome/guide the arrivals, very hard-working!

Eva

Eva worked in our group as a visiting PhD student, from 2018.9.9-12.26. She is from the Dept. of Pollutants and Human health in the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) of Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). She joined Lele on the extraction and column cleanup of ATMSYC air samples added up to more than a thousand, tremendous work! She visited many places including Yangshuo and Beijing. She, Bet and Clara also went with Lele to Baoji and Xi’an to attend a wedding ceremony as bridesmaids. Of course, they appeared as headline on the local newspaper on the next day. It is really nice that she chose our group for her stage. We wish her all the best!

Dr Rose Alani and PhD student Olumide visited the group from Dec 2 to 16, partly attended the MSR training course but stay after it in the laboratory to work on their samples from Lagos. Good luck to them, and we hope the collaboration with Lagos University could go on successfully.
