Örjan Gustafsson and family visited Guangzhou

On October 28 to 31, Örjan Gustafsson visited the group. This is his second visit in the year of 2018. His family came along with him. Orjan had intensive discussions with Gan, Guangcai, Xiaofei, Yi Xin and Buqing. The visit push our collaboration much forward and made it more clearly. The advance of BPCA-based dual-carbon methodology and aerosol di-acids dual-carbon isotope methodology were highly appraised by Orjan. He also discussed with Junwen on the writing of the Malaysian Bachok Station radiocarbon paper. We went to Baiyun Mountain with his family for a nice excursion. And the kids had great first impression of Guangzhou, from the splendid Pearl River water front, to delicate vegetarian food in the ShiFangYuan restaurant. Anna, the little lovely beauty received a special gift from Gan and Liu Xin, which is a family portrait of her family in the PR waterfront. Wonderful memory.

On October 21-25, Liu Xin, Shizhen and Zhang Gan payed a fruitful visit to University of Malaya (UM) and University of Malaysia Terrengganu (UMT). In Terengganu, I gave a talk entitled ‘Fate of POPs in marine environment: from coastal to the open sea’, then we had a technical discussion with Dr Le Quang Dung (黎光勇) in UMT on the development of SCP in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam. We also had time slots for short visits to the beautiful sand beach, the crystal mosque,  as well as the China Town in Terrengganu. In Kuala Lampur, we were very happy to meet our long time collaborator/friends, Dr Bon Chui Wei (黄翠薇）and Professor Pauzi Zakaria. We agreed to upgrade the MoU between GIG and UM. It cannot be neglected as an important success that I received from Chui Wei a his-beloved new-version UM mug.

Dr Le (黎）is originated from Vietnam. He obtained his PhD in Tokyo University. We will work together on environmental health in Ho Chi Mihn City of Vietnam.

Kevin, Doug and Tri visited on September

During 13th ~18th of September, Prof. Kevin Jones from Lancaster University and Mr. Douglas Booker from National Air Quality Testing Services Ltd visited us to kick off our cooperative UK-Guangdong Urban-Innovation project “Intraurban air pollution exposure prediction: a smart platform and applications using land-use regression (LUR) model”. Other participant organizations of this project include Guangdong Environmental Monitoring Centre (Dr Chen Duohong，陈多宏高工) and  Guangzhou Bojin Information Technology Co Ltd.(Dr Feng Bin，冯斌总经理)

Meanwhile, we also have Prof. Tri Manh Tran from Vietnam National University (VNU University of Science) visited us to discuss our potential cooperation under the framework of the Southern Contaminants Programme (SCP).

All these discussions facilitate our mutual understanding and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration!

Kevin and Doug were really impressed by the advanced equipment adapted in the supersite station.We visited Guangzhou Bojin Information Technology Co Ltd.  Dr Fengbin (the founder and CEO) was introducing his company.
